These venues provide students with opportunities to perform for a variety of audiences and competent judges, gather feedback and criticism, and listen to literature performed by their peers. Performing at these events also helps develop team unity within the band.

I believe that healthy competition promotes motivation within the band and reflects the nature of our society. Students and parents are, however, asked to understand that this may be necessary at times, especially before concerts and festivals.

These rehearsals will be announced at least one week in advance. Attendance is required by all band members. Students interested in this option should communicate with the director prior to marching band camp in August. An instrument check-out form must be filled out, signed and submitted before the instrument can be released for the school year. Separate check-out forms must be filled out for summer use, but no additional fee will be assessed.

A $50 fee will be assessed for the year to help pay for any general repair work caused by normal wear-and-tear on the instrument. Any damages due to student negligence or misuse will result in the student being charged for the entire cost of the instrument. Each student that uses a school-owned instrument is entirely responsible for its care and maintenance.
Melanie Herdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01683202323237342788noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4347172685898084325.post-78953398864821252552012-02-22T17:11:00.001-08:002012-02-22T17:18:11.579-08:00Lost/Damaged MusicStudents should bear in mind that all music is property of either the school or the director. Music can be expensive, and should be preserved so that it can continue to be a resource for future band students. Students who lose their music or return it in a condition that necessitates its replacement will be assessed a $20 fee. Please communicate any issues concerning music to the director.Melanie Herdhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01683202323237342788noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4347172685898084325.post-12120182991043598082012-02-22T14:55:00.000-08:002012-02-22T16:54:42.368-08:00Use of Band Facilities/EquipmentStudents are expected to treat the facilities and equipment provided by the school with respect.
